Never a Dull Moment…

Spring always has a way of exploding into your life, and it looks like this year isn’t going to be any different. With a ton of things happening in the Kansas City area and another FRAG Road Trip at the end of the month, May is turning out to be one of the busiest months we’ve had around here in a long time. For those who don’t keep track of the rest of the world, here’s some things you might have missed….

The Midwest Massacre 2015

A day late as usual, but here it is folks, the official announcement of the 2015 Midwest Massacre Warhammer 40K Tournament, presented by FRAG and! This marks the 7th year that FRAG will host the Midwest Massacre and once again this year it will be held at the Recruits Gaming Convention in Lee’s Summit, MO. This year though, we’re changing it up a bit…

While I can and will write an entire article about why we went with the new format, this isn’t the time. For now, here’s what you need to know. This year the Midwest Massacre will be held on September 12th. It will be a three round tournament with three hours per round. The points limit for this event will be 2500 points. Painted models will not be required for this event. The cost for this event will be $20 and does not include the $5 charge for a convention badge that each player is required to have to play at Recruits.

This tournament is restricted to the first 24 participants who sign up and pay their entry fees. Pre-registration will open to all FRAG members for one week beginning on May 1st, 2015. On May 7th, any spots left available will be offered to the general public. As usual, pre-registration can be done via the website. If you are a FRAG member who wishes to pre-register, please contact us at for the link. All emails with the link will be sent out on May 1st, at midnight CST.

While prizes may vary depending on the amount of support we receive, we will be giving away at least $500 in trophies and prizes. Plaques and prizes will be awarded to Best General, Best Overall, Best Painted, and Player’s Choice. Prizes for all awards will be of approximately equal value. Door prizes will also be available and will be handed out via raffle in the usual manner.

That’s all for now, but we’ll be releasing the full rules packet in the next few days. Be sure to check back for that release and future articles in our Road to the Massacre series. See you in September!

Breaking News for the Midwest Massacre 2014!

We are very excited to announce this breaking news about the Midwest Massacre 2014.  Remember, the Midwest Massacre starts this Friday, September 19.

In an effort to attract more players, we have officially dropped the painting requirement for models at this year’s tournament.
Models do not need to be based, primed, or painted to a tabletop standard (three colors).  Instead, any and all models may be used, providing they are still WYSIWYG with the proper weapons.

Secondly, if we have 30 or more participants in this years tournament, the winner from last year has agreed to randomly raffle the WINNING ARMY from last year!
You read that correctly… the winner from last year will randomly give away the entire winning army list (fully painted and based!).  To see pictures of this outstanding army, click here:

With these two new announcements, and the fact that it’s only $20 for the entire weekend to one awesome convention, there’s no excuse for you to stay home…. and bring your friends!

Midwest Massacre 2014 Rules Updated for 7th Edition

We have now updated the rules for the 2014 Midwest Massacre to bring them current with 7th edition. You can find these rules by clicking on the link at the top of the page. If you are considering participating in the Midwest Massacre, please be sure to read these rules carefully as much has changed.

One of the biggest changes you’ll notice is the drop in price. Let’s face it, 40K is expensive. The books are expensive, the models are expensive, and tournaments are expensive. Well, we can’t do anything about the first two, but we’re tired of tournaments costing as much or more than a new box of models, so we’re changing things up. This year, the price for a ticket into the Midwest Massacre will be $20, and that includes your convention entry for the weekend! Advertised prizes will not be changed, however we will be giving out a few less door prizes than we have in the past. Well worth the trade off for a price like that, right?!?

So, click on the link, read the rules, and start making your plans to attend the Midwest Massacre today!

Winding Down 2013

First off, I’d like to say thank you to all of the players who participated in the FRAG 2013 Tanksgiving Event. Lots of fun was had by all involved, and overall, the new Tanksgiving Rules Format worked great. Once again, a big thank you to The Basement Games for hosting the event and to the staff for jumping in to play as well!

With all the chaos around Christmas and the new year, FRAG tends to wind down around this time every year for a month or so and this is no exception. We will be running the 40K league at Collector’s Cache starting this Tuesday, 12/3/13 so I encourage everyone to come out and play if you have the time.

2014 is looking to start with a bang though! The first FRAG event of the new year will be an Apoc game at The Basement on Jan 4th. You can find all the rules and sign up information in the calendar section of the web site. Also coming up in Jan will be another 6th edition Warhammer 40K Tournament at Collector’s Cache. The tentative date for that is currently Sat, Jan 25th. Hopefully I’ll see everyone at both events!

FRAG Tanksgiving 2013

This is a charity event sponsored by FRAG and The Basement – Games & Hobbies

All entry fees and any donations will be going to The Wounded Warriors Project

If you would like to download a copy of these rules, you can do so here.

What better way to work off the post-Turkey Day stress than with a massive Tank battle and helping a worthwhile Charity?!

Bring in your favorite tank and try to cause as much destruction as possible!
